A lovely trip to the seaside and a lovely three points to take home, thanks to the JD Cymru Leagues North’s leading goal scorer Keiron Moore…
“We’re happy with the result and elements of the performance, but there’s still so much to improve on. It was a difficult night with an awkward playing surface and strong wind, and against totally unknown opposition, and we’ve come away with a win so we shouldn’t complain too much (although we will!).
We wanted to create more chances compared to Friday’s Chirk game, and we certainly did that – we should have scored five in the first half and then have hit the post and created a couple more in the second half. So we are pleased with this improvement but obviously would be happier if we had taken those chances.
We’re disappointed with the goal against us, the penalty came from a corner which wasn’t a corner, and I’m not sure it’s even a penalty without watching it again yet. Having said that, we can’t allow external factors such as decisions of the match officials to influence the outcome of games, and we didn’t last night.
We said to the players at half time that if we defend correctly and focus on what we can control then we would win, and I think that their attitude towards doing exactly that was superb.
Our substitutes have yet again had a positive impact on the game, which is their job but it’s good to see, and the players that haven’t got on have shown a great attitude.
And again – huge thanks to the travelling supporters, it felt like a home game, and we really appreciate you all making the effort!”
