Mold Alexandra FC

A remarkable night in many ways as we turned the tables on Mold Alexandra FC and our team proved, once again, that this is a true family.
Dan’s Bit:
This was a totally different game to the one we played at Mold’s ground a week ago, with a completely different playing surface. We performed much better overall than we did at Mold, and we were delighted to see the improvement because we didn’t really turn up in the first game. Our second half performance in particular was very good from start to finish. In the first half Connor scored a great goal but then we made an error from which they equalised, which was disappointing but it didn’t really change what we said at half time as we knew there was room for improvement. There weren’t many chances created but we never really felt in danger and we were the only team that looked like scoring, and yet again we managed to hit the woodwork a couple of times before Jake’s late strike gave us the victory we deserved. This sets us up nicely for the weekend’s game away at Porthmadog which won’t be easy.
As ever, I need to thank the amazing Facilities Team and everyone else who leapt into action when two floodlight bulbs failed just before the warm-up, ensuring that the game went ahead. It’s amazing to see so many volunteers at the ground and we’ve had many compliments from spectators praising their matchday experience. On a freezing cold Wednesday night just before Christmas we hope the result warmed everyone up.
From the Photographer:
Putting aside the on-field result, last night’s off-field support team was nothing short of amazing. Midweek games are always difficult for everyone due to work commitments, especially at this time of year, but as ever we had at least 15 or so volunteers on duty on a freezing cold night. The added drama of a floodlight bulb failure just before the warm-up demonstrated the skill and dedication of everyone – roles were reassigned, equipment brought in and it was all hands on deck for a Red Bull-esque pitstop, with the floodlight lowered and two bulbs changed in record time. The whole team are superstars, but special mentions go to Chris, Allan, Mally and Mike for springing into action on the lights, to Alan and Stu for jumping on and sorting the turnstiles (working by torchlight while the floodlights were fixed) gate, and to Sarah, Jane and Zoe for the extra work in the kitchen and bar respectively.
This is a remarkable bunch of people, I’m proud to be a small part of it.
TJ
P.S. It was quite nice to top it off with 3 points too.
