Our last pre-season game before Saturday’s season opener v Denbigh Town Football Club
Dave’s thoughts:
“Last night’s defeat to Wrexham was a really good run out for our lads and a fitting way to finish our pre-season programme. Results are always important, but games like this are about testing ourselves against top-quality opposition, and it certainly gave us that opportunity.
It was fantastic to see The Globe full of Buckley supporters for the first time this season. The atmosphere created by our fans was brilliant and I hope every single one of them is back with us again this Saturday as we begin our Cymru North campaign against Denbigh Town.
Credit has to go to Wrexham. They were a very good side and I have to say I was impressed by both their physicality and fitness levels. They set a really intense pattern to their game from the first whistle and closed us down at every opportunity. They never allowed us time on the ball and it was exactly the sort of challenge we wanted ahead of the new season.
From our point of view, there were plenty of positives to take. We were able to get valuable minutes into a lot of players, continue building relationships across the team and give everyone another opportunity to stake their claim. We’re now in a good place heading into Saturday and the hard work throughout pre-season has prepared us well for what’s ahead.
A big thank you to Dan Moore for bringing his lads down to The Globe. It was a competitive game played in the right spirit, and there were certainly a number of players on show that I’m sure we’ll see again in the future.
Finally, I’d like to recognise everyone on the committee for the incredible work that’s gone on behind the scenes this summer. The pitch was a real credit to everyone involved and provided an excellent surface for both teams.
Now the focus turns to Saturday. Let’s pack out The Globe once again and get right behind the lads as we welcome Denbigh Town for the start of what promises to be an exciting season.”
